I've written 15 completed screenplays since October, 2008. Every day for the last nine years I have banged
away at my computer and burst out new ideas, learning and fine tuning my writing skills.
In addition, I’ve read the book guru’s, attended on line and in person classes and had my scripts hammered
by readers. As a result, I feel my writing is intimate, real and raw.
This October 2017 will mark 9 years of writing screenplays. In that time I've completed 13 screenplays and
a 6 part TV mini-series. None have hit the big screen...YET, but I'm close.
*My screenplay, DECEPTION, just finished 7th in the 2018 San Francisco Indie Film Festival.
*I am a co-writer of a TV series called 'The Last Supper. We have 6 completed episodes.
*I have written a novel based on 2 of my screenplays, Into the Mystic, and the sequel, Into the Mystic II.
Currently available on Amazon. It went live in March, 2017, and with virtually no advertising, over 700 copies have been
downloaded.
*I am versatile in my genres and have learned to adapt my writing to each one. My genre count is:

I developed a business relationship with producer Mark Koch, known for Lost in Space, Black Dog and
more. He hired me to write a faith based screenplay.

In an e-mail to his agent at ICM, Mark wrote: "On another note, I am BLOWN AWAY with Garry Hicks and his writing gift. That said, PLEASE read “Into the Mystic”. It is definitely one of the top three screenplays I have read in the last 20 years. I am crazy about this movie. I truly believe this is a bidding war type of script that the studios will go nuts over. This is a franchise picture with great sequel potential and merchandising. I don’t even want to try to give you a tagline or pitch on it. Read it!"
My writing started while I was an insurance agent. I wrote four articles on sales that were published in a
national trade magazine.
I later wrote my life story which consisted of 78,000 words.
Next came my first book, unfinished, titled “THE LOCKSMITH’, 80,000 words. I converted it into my first screenplay, now titled ‘DECEPTION’.
